RAIN-X Water Repellent
Rain-X ReviewIf you live in a rainy area, you often can’t see the road clearly with just your windshield wipers. As you go faster, fog from other vehicles can splash onto your windshield, and heavy rain can stain your windshield and reduce visibility. Windshield wipers can also smudge the windshield if the windshield washer fluid can’t effectively clean the surface.
This phenomenon can be very dangerous and can easily blind some drivers, even if the wipers are new. No wiper setting is fast enough to handle some rainy conditions. RAIN-X uses a hydrophobic compound that is specifically designed for automotive exterior glass. When water hits a windshield treated with RAIN-X, the water beads up and runs off the windshield directly on contact.
In some cases, RAIN-X is so effective that you can drive on the road in a downpour without using your wipers.
How to apply RAIN-X
1) First, clean the glass with RAIN-X 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner. After spraying on the windshield, wipe the surface with a clean microfiber cloth until it dries.
2) Make sure there is no dirt or debris left on the windshield. Get another clean microfiber cloth and wipe the windshield again. If the microfiber cloth is dirty, repeat step 1.
3) Spray the windshield with Pure RAIN-X Water Repellent again. After wiping the windshield with the third clean microfiber cloth, let the windshield dry for about an hour, then spray the windshield with water.
4) Repeat this process with all other windows you want to treat with RAIN-X. For best results, apply RAIN-X to your side windows as well to improve visibility to cross traffic.
This application strategy is highly effective in areas with high rainfall, such as the Pacific Northwest. Best of all, RAIN-X is cost-effective and will not cause wiper misfires like traditional car wax products can.
RAIN-X will wear out over time. Depending on how often it rains and how often you use your wipers, you may need another application every few months.
